Answer
Ask him what he think the difference is between an associate and a friend. You can sincerely share with him these differences: An associate is someone who just "hangs around" without adding any value to your well-being,but a friend is someone who adds value to who you are. He contributes to your TOTAL person, emotionally, spiritually, mentally, and physically. Most of all he helps you to GROW!! You can ask him if he thinks that his friend does these things for him. It is evident that he has love for his friend, so be sure to speak in a caring, but honest tone. You don't want to open the floor up for him thinking that you are trying to negatively turn him against his childhood friend because that might turn him against you in some ways. Encouraging someone to evaluate his/her own situation is a lot of times the best proof anyone can provide. Best wishes** asked in Marriage category on 04/04/2010
