To Phone or Not to Phone?
My boyfriend and I are living in different parts of the country at the moment -- a temporary but unavoidable situation. Our relationship is great when we're together but he doesn't communicate at all when we're in different cities! He says he "doesn't think it's important" to call on the phone just to chat. I'm not asking for a call every day, but a couple times a week would be nice! He says he understands how important it is to me, and then he still doesn't call. I feel like I'm nagging when all communication comes from my end. How can I encourage him to pick up the phone?

You did say this is a temporary situation though, so the good news is, it isn't forever. I think you're looking for reassurance and a touch base from him on his commitment to the relationship. Instead of twice of week talks, how about compromising with a once a week call, combined with a few "i luv madly" text messages instead?
If he's not willing to compromise when it comes to communication then I suppose you always have the option of re-evaulating the relationship going forward.
