Would you date someone who had previously dated one of your friends?

Yes! I'm perfectly happy to date my friend's exes. They're exes for a reason.
No! It's too incestuous. I don't feel comfortable dating a friend's ex.
Maybe Yes: I haven't had the opportunity, but I don't see a problem with it.

Cultural break ups
What kind of cultural bias have you encountered that caused you to break up?

Having lived in Japan for over a decade, I've seen the affect that cultural differences can have on relationships.

One of the most prevalent is the social definition of male and female roles in a society. Here in the States I would think nothing of asking my partner to go out and grab a loaf of bread. That doesn't work in Japan. And we had a huge fight about it. I couldn't figure out why until he later explained that he "lost face" by going into a supermarket by himself unless he was single.

The hardest thing is that neither partner may realize that the conflict arises from cultural differences. What seems completely normal to one is unacceptable to the other. But when you don't understand the root of the conflict it becomes far more difficult to resolve.

In some societies women are expected to be subservient. Most American women are so used to social equality that even if they could assume that role would be highly resentful.

Other societies expect men to be very macho and never show a soft or tender side.

So, in answer to your question, the cultural roles of males and females are perhaps the strongest component of breakups in these situations.
