Resisting my supervisor's secretary
I'm having a problem with a girl at work. She's adorable, wholesome, and has made it evident that she wants me to ask her out. Although I would if we met in the outside world, she's my supervisor's secretary so that's never going to happen. My career means far more to me than some office fling. She hasn't seemed to take my gentle hints that it's not going anywhere. How do I make it crystal clear without hurting her? I don't want a situation where she's ignoring me or giving me weepy eyes every time I pass her desk.

Have you mentioned a girlfriend or significant other? Maybe had a framed photo in a prominent place on your desk? I think she'd take it much easier if she realized that someone else has your heart. The thing about office crushes is they're fun and help to make the workday more exciting. There's nothing like that heartpounding feeling when you see Mr. Hot Exec striding down the hallway and he gives you a million dollar grin. (okay, so I've been in her shoes!) Just be careful that you're not giving out conflicting signals, too.
