I tend to let go and not making it a big issue if someone I care about forgets dates they're supposed to remember. See, how that works? I said 'supposed'. It is an impulsive expectation that people should remember dates even when you're aware that sometimes there are just too many special dates to remember.
I reason with an article I once read about how genes could explain the difference between what men and women remember. For men, it is easier to recollect factual information whereas women tend to retain more emotional information such as dates associated with special events or places.
Despite the scientific data, remembering dates is important [because inevitably, we humans are ruled by our hormones and genes] but it depends on how important you make it. Do you want to fight over forgetting and not actually celebrating or enjoying the day, once you know its special.
