Dating advice for mom!

My mom is 82 years old and wants to date! My dad passed away a few years ago and she is lonely. I don’t object to her wanting to date but how can I not be horrified by the thought of giving dating advice to my 82 year old mother! Frankly, I don’t know where to start. Where does an 82 year old woman find an older gentleman to date? How do you give dating tips to your mom? Again, I would love her to find someone, I just feel really uncomfortable with advising. Please help!

Good for her! the thought of giving your mother advice in this department may seem a little odd, but you have to realize that you are both adults and because of her age she has no clue what to do. She has been out of the game for so long. There are many programs available that seniors can participate in that involve day trips to places and things like that. This would be a great place for her to meet a companion. She could also go to things such as bingo or things like that. I know it may seem awkward at first, but you also have to realize that your mom is probably quite lonely, and she may feel awkward asking you for advice as well. After all, her husband that passed away was also your father. Just make light of the situation and help her the best you can.

Seeing as your mother fits into a rather unique category of online daters, my advice would be to first seek out some senior dating websites online. Perhaps a good place to start would be to find some online resources for senior dating, and even if there are local senior dating clubs, bars, etc that are in your locale. A good way to approach your mother over this topic would be to, say, take her out to lunch. Bring it up coyly and have some well-researched fodder handy to offer up to her on a silver dating plate.
